December 22 news, in the SVOLT Energy sodium ion battery technology seminar, SVOLT Energy director Jiang Weijun revealed that the company's first generation of sodium ion battery prototype sample has been completed development, energy density of 110 Wh / kg.
In addition, SVOLT Energy's second-generation sodium ion battery product is under development, which is expected to complete the design in the first quarter of 2023, with an energy density of 135 Wh / kg; and plans to complete the development of 160 Wh / kg of sodium ion battery in the fourth quarter of 2023, with an estimated cycle life of more than 2,000 weeks.
It is understood that the energy density of the current mainstream lithium iron phosphate battery is below 200Wh / kg, the energy density of the ternary lithium battery is between 200-300Wh / kg, and the energy density of the existing lithium ion battery is close to the theoretical limit.
