The Australian government recently announced plans to amend the JORC Code, or the Australasian Code for Reporting of Exploration Results, Mineral Resources, and Ore Reserves, in order to further regulate the domestic exploration market and enhance the management of mineral resource reporting. The draft of the new regulations will introduce additional environmental requirements, and the evaluation reports of mineral resources for proposed mining projects will need to be signed off by qualified experts before they can take effect. Once approved, the revised regulations will apply to all locally listed companies.
