The "EU Battery and Waste Battery Regulations" were officially enforced on August 17th, following a 20-day public notice period. Regarding carbon footprint, the new battery regulations mandate that, starting from July 2024, the majority of batteries exported to Europe must provide carbon footprint declarations and labels.
Battery export manufacturers must disclose carbon emission data for the entire lifecycle, spanning from upstream mining and materials to battery production, recycling, and reuse. Subsequently, the EU will implement carbon emission grading and establish relevant thresholds.
